Photographer Lope Navo has come out with ‘Stark,’ his first ever photography book, celebrating masculinity and male beauty. And even though there is an abundance of skin, the images have a sense of subtlety and an emotional depth that is usually missing in similar male photography books. In addition to going for the ‘visual bang’ with the stark beauty of his models, Navo manages to draw us in and make us linger at each image.

I would love to own this incredibly beautiful book, but really, even in times far less austere than the current time, $500 for a book is truly outrageous. Somewhere along the line, it should be made available to all who would wish to own it at a far more reasonable price. I might be able to swallow (pun definitely intended in this case!) as much as $100.00, but $500.00 really makes it accessible to only the wealthiest audience or as a fundraiser from 500 friends with a dollar!
I completely agree with you mathmavin. In fact, I emailed the photographer about this issue a few months ago because I felt it is unfair that the book is only available on Amazon for a much inflated price when the book's list price is $60ish or $70ish. Most similar photography books, even from Bruce Weber & Helmut Newton, are available on Amazon for a fraction of that, new copies sell for $50-100, so this is very unfortunate for photography lovers.

I was clever enough to do a Google search on the ISBN number which led me to the site for Alibris. It even had an instant $7 coupon which brought the entire purchase to $77 and change. It won't arrive until late June because it ships from Germany. A little research and I saved over four hundred dollars. Incredible!
