The Subjective Man of Joachim Baldauf

“I decided to start working on male nudes a few years ago because I didn't like most of the contemporary male nude photography. For me it is too trashy or too sleek,” explains photographer Joachim Baldauf to Homotography of his photography book Der Subjektive Mann (The Subjective Man). “So I started to do it my way: non-retouched images of real men with a very classic lighting. Non-posed images of men whose sexuality, job or social status is not recognizable on the images.”

WARNING – FULL NUDITY AFTER THE JUMP

It is very refreshing to see a book that is a true photographic study of the male form without straying into a trashy and cheap direction to sensationalize it.  With no gimmicks and a minimalistic direction, we are left with a truly subjective look at the naked male body.

Published in 2006, you can order a copy of the book here, with worldwide shipping.
