Hotel by Erwin Olaf
HOTEL WINSTON SALEM - ROOM 438
Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf deals with loneliness in his newest series, Hotel. The images were taken in hotel rooms all over the world, and contrast the somewhat luxurious setting of the room with a detached melancholic feeling portrayed by the subjects.

The Dusk & Dawn of Erwin Olaf
If you’re in NYC any time between January 28 and March 20, 2010, you should check out the Erwin Olaf solo show at Hasted Hunt. In addition to his new Hotel series, the exhibit will showcase Olaf’s Dusk & Dawn. The two sets are separate but interconnected in a way that illustrates the genius of Olaf, and shows why we love the man. More after the jump.

‘We Fight, We Dance’ with Erwin Olaf
Writing the Men in Motion post reminded me of the Nederlands Dans Theater 2009 ad campaign ‘We Fight, We Dance’. Done by Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf, the images show the sweat, blood, and energy these dancers give to what they are passionate about. I really like how Olaf shows the gritty and hardcore side to dancing instead of the typical glamorous poses. They are warriors!

Erwin Olaf Does Sexy Denim For Linda

Never one to shy away from a little (or big) edge in his images, our favorite Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf recently did this eye-popping editorial entitled L’HOMO for Linda magazine. Denim editorials and campaigns are inherently sexy, but this one takes it to a whole new level. I’ve been listening to the song Monster from Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster album quite a lot today, and the line “I’ve never seen one like that before… that boy is a monster” seems like the appropriate soundtrack for this shoot.

The Joy of Erwin Olaf’s 80s Photography
It doesn’t get any more homoerotic than the above image by Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf. Joy was taken back in 1986. Now, wouldn’t this have been a nice cover for Madonna’s new Celebration? Maybe Jesus Luz and a bottle of champagne ;) Below we have more fascinating images by Olaf from the 80s. The images are titled Olger, Design by Nature, and Pearls, respectively.

Erwin Olaf :: ‘50 Years Old’ Self Portraits
Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf is a Homotography regular. Olaf’s latest is a set of three self portraits entitled ‘50 Years Old,’ celebrating his landmark year. The individual images (top to bottom) are entitled ‘I Wish,’ ‘I Am,’ and ‘I Will Be.’ It’s a social commentary on our society’s fascination with youth and Photoshop.
