What To Do With a Guy Like This?

I am kicking off the Best of 2008 Homotography feature with this playful Bruce Weber editorial in the V53 issue of V Magazine. The editorial, "What's a girl to do with a guy like this?" is themed as a summer blockbuster movie of beaches, bikinis, and sexy foreign exchange students. Styling by Joe McKenna. The models include Jeremy Simpson and Ryan Paevey.

Special Homotography Feature: Best of 2008

All through December I will be featuring special posts under the "Best of 2008" category that highlight the best photography works of 2008. I think it's a nice way to end the year by acknowledging and honoring the exciting editorials and photoshoots of 2008 and a good motivation to look forward to an even better 2009, specially since I just started this blog.

If you have any recommendations of such photoshoots and editorials that fit with the theme of Homotography and you consider them to be the best of 2008, email me or leave a comment and I will be happy to check them out.

Dirty & Bloody Nick Davis by Carter Smith

I love the raw and gritty direction of this photoshoot of Nick Davis (Nous Model Management) by photographer Carter Smith. All that dirt and blood adds an extra dimension to Nick's beauty. It's like he's a member of Fight Club...

Human Gods by David Vance

The super talented photographer David Vance has a magical way in capturing humans as gods with a sensual homoerotic undertone. Even Vance's devils are a pleasure to look at. See a few of his 'Gods' series in this post and make sure to check out his official site for more amazing photographs.

Iconic Videos: Being Boring by Bruce Weber

The music video for "Being Boring" by the Pet Shop Boys transcends its function as a promotion clip for a song and becomes a piece of art on its own. But it's understandable, since the director was none other than the iconic photographer, Bruce Weber. The song is from the Pet Shop Boys'1990 album, Behaviour.

Lace & Sheer It Up Boys!

Are you ready to hit the town in lace pants and sheer shirts? New British fashion label Jaiden rVa James (with Jaiden James and Rasharn De Vera Agyemang as creative partners) pushes the gender-bending trend with a very fashion-forward A/W 2008 menswear collection that features plenty of lace, sheer and sequins. Here are the ads/lookbook for their new collection with photography by Brett Lloyd and styling by Raph Castelmezzano.

Human Building Blocks

Fun photography by Ben Toms in Dazed & Confused (October issue) that fuses fashion with architecture. It is inspired by 1920’s Bauhaus performance art. See the full gallery at Dazed.

Ash & Josh are Dazed & Confused

I absolutely love this editorial "Josh & Ash" by photographer Brett Lloyd in the December 2008 issue of Dazed & Confused. The editorial features models Ash Stymest and Josh Beech in a crazy cool style by Nicola Formichetti. In fact, I loved this editorial so much that I used one of its images to make Homotography's first banner. I also like the editorial's layout style which has overlapping cutouts of the same image. Very cool.
