War Stories by Lee Whitman

War Stories is a new GLBT Sci-Fi/Mystery/Thriller from Uncheckable Films premiering November 13 at the Asheville Film Festival. The film was written by Emmy® Award Winning young gay writer/producer Lee Whitman when he was 22, and directed at 23.

“After months of writing, shooting, and post-production, we are very excited to be premiering WAR STORIES at the Asheville Film Festival,” explains Lee Whitman, “Asheville is known for its independent art and film scene;  We couldn’t be more honored to be in the festival!”

Shot in DC/Kansas/Oklahoma City,  the film’s press release explains the plot, “Michael Brenton Gordon stars as Tim Curtright, a teen who discovers, after living his entire life believing that his father died in the Gulf War, that his father may in fact still be alive.  With the help of his gay best-friend, Austin (Mark Ayesh), and girlfriend, Laura (Sara Hammond), Tim seeks to break through a generation of lies and secrets and discover what really happened to his dad.” Enjoy the official trailer below.

Minotaur by Colin Davis

Chicago-based TV producer and photographer Colin Davis shares with Homotography a new shoot inspired by Minotaur, a Greek myth creature with the body of a man and the head of a bull.

“I have always been a fan of rear screen projection and wanted to utilize that for the backdrop,”  Colin explained to us of the shoot’s striking background image by Erin Egeberg. “I like the fact that it is clearly "fake" but photoreal at the same time, and adds a physicality to the photograph that typical greenscreen doesn’t do.”

Book :: Dennis Hopper - Photographs 1961-1967

A must have for any photography and pop culture aficionado, Dennis Hopper: Photographs 1961-1967, is a limited edition boxed set of Hopper’s iconic images of the 60s era.

Having been encouraged to pursue photography by his friend James Dean, Dennis Hopper explains the motivation of his photography in this 60s era, “I was doing something that I thought could have some impact someday. In many ways, it’s really these photographs that kept me going creatively."

The special moments featured in this extensive (530 pages!) book include Andy Warhol at his first West Coast show, Paul Newman on set, Tina Turner in the studio, and Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights March from Selma to Montgomery.

A third of the featured images have never been published before, and come from Hopper’s own personal archive. The book also features interviews with the photographed personalities, with Hopper himself, his family and friends.

Bernhard Willhelm by Christian Anwander :: 10 Men

I’m really digging the cover of the new 10 Men Winter 2009 issue with fashion designer Bernhard Willhelm sporting a big balloon head. The photography is by Christian Anwander.

Looking Dead Gorgeous With Sarti Tailors

Australians must be dead serious about looking good! These ads for Sarti Tailors show that if you happened to die wearing their suits, you would still look damn good. The ads were photographed by Christopher Tovo for JWT, Melbourne.

Getting Steamy With Dean Isidro

The new A|X ads reminded me of this sultry shoot by Dean Isidro. Now this is how its done, you’re supposed to be into the hot girl you’re embracing, not giving the camera a Blue Steel!

A|X 2009 Holiday Ads :: Say Cheese!

Ah, Armani Exchange, what’s going on these days? I didn’t really like the A|X Fall/Winter ads, and I dislike their just unveiled holiday ads even more, thanks to a series of awkward poses by Kerry Degman and a rather cheesy overall direction. What a waste of the talent of Tom Munro and the beauty of Rianne ten Haken...

(UPDATE: These ads turned out to be by Matthew Scrivens, not Munro. Sorry Tom!)

A Lonesome Jakob Wiechmann by Steeve Beckouet

The unstoppable Jakob Wiechmann stars in ‘Lonesome’ in the recent Summer 2009 ‘Numbers’ issue of fashion & art magazine Stimulus Respond. The sexy editorial was lensed by Steeve Beckouet with styling by Bodo Ernle.

André Ziehe by Hunter & Gatti, Blanco Winter 2009 Ads

Brazilian supermodel André Ziehe is quite the dapper gentleman in the new Blanco Winter 2009 ad campaign. Hunter & Gatti lensed the ads, which co-star Siri Tollerød.

The Smoking Men of Txema Yeste

As much as I hate smoking, I can’t deny that it looks fashionably cool in photography. Spanish photographer Txema Yeste seems to agree with me as he captures young male models enjoying a smoke.

Hedi Segalen by Patrick Walter in Faces

Sportswear can be quite sensual and sexy when worn right, as this editorial ‘Sport Deluxe’ proves. Model Hedi Segalen [Studio KLRP] is the star of the editorial, featured in the recent May 2009 issue of Swiss magazine Faces. The photography is by Patrick Walter and styling by Bodo Ernle.
