‘Girls left behind. Guys making bad choices’ is the essence of  Sunday Drive, the third book by photographer Luke Smalley, who passed away earlier this year.

 

 

The book shows what happens when ‘innocence takes a wrong turn’ as Smalley explores the psyche of small town youth in this visual novel.

If the epic Steven Klein and controversial Lady Gaga editorials were not enough to convince you to buy the new issue of Vogue Hommes Japan, this surely will. ‘Life Without Rules’ by Mariano Vivanco is a breath of fresh air with inspired styling by Shun Watanabe. It is the perfect showcase of this fall and winter fashions and trends.

The Steven Klein Academy in W Magazine

 

The Academy is more than just an editorial. It’s a return to form for one of my favorite photographers, Steven Klein, who’s been frankly having more misses than hits recently. This is Klein at his best. It’s also a validation for Lara Stone. Many people questioned Carine Roitfeld’s decision to dedicate a whole French Vogue issue to Lara earlier this year. Well, look at the editorials and ad campaigns she’s been booking nonstop lately. The Academy also marks Red model Alan Carey’s graduation into the spotlight. We’ve long known he’s a star, now everyone else does. Finally, this cinematic editorial, combined with ‘Sunday at the Park,’ elevates W Magazine to the level of V Magazine, for me personally. Well done on this issue, W.

 

 

The Academy models include Lara Stone, Alan Carey, Colby Jamar, Ryan Koning, Pasha Kalachev, Hubert Czech, Miles White, Sterling Folkestad, Kyle Fetzer, and Lars Kier. The styling is by Camilla Nickerson.

Flash The Queen With Mikus Lasmanis & Brian Wood

 

Remember when I showed you back in January some photos of  Mikus Lasmanis by Samuel Zakuto? Well it turns out those images where taken while Zakuto shot the ad campaign for the Brian Wood S/S 2009 collection, which is dubbed ‘Flash The Queen’. Here is Mikus and some other boys in the ads.

 

 

I have to say that the clothes in these ads are pretty boring. Their recent F/W 08 collection “We Shall Overcome” was much more exciting. Thankfully they are back on track with the F/W 09 collection “Night Stalkers”
