When I first saw these new images of Chosen model Nic Luhrs, my heart pumped faster and I couldn’t help but stare at them for quite a while. When enough blood was transported to my brain, I thought to myself, ‘man, Tony Duran has treated us to more male beauty.’ However, when I contacted David Love from Chosen management enquiring about the images, it turned out that he was the photographer, not Duran. I say, David, I love your photos, let’s see more of your work on the Chosen beauties!
Young artist Alexander Guerra has shared with Homotography his new self-portrait series entitled "Swimming in Gold". Playing the role of model/photographer/art director, Alexander sports a green swimsuit by TFabiano and eye-popping golden goggles.
“Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I have always been influenced by art and fashion,” explained 25 year-old Alexander Guerra to Homotography. “As a child, I imagined myself as the poster boy for Guess (wearing those snazzy jeans) or for Ralph Lauren (wearing those wonderful layers and perfectly pressed slacks). My face would be plastered all over magazines, on billboards and on the sides of city buses. I was going places! Enter reality, a 5'9" stature and I ended up with Plan B! The plan of B your own photographer and B your own model! These days, along with my "Plastique" artwork, I'm all about self discovery through Self-Portraiture. I like to think of my pictures as my artist account of my creativity at "this" very moment in time. "Swimming in Gold", is just that. This is my very moment in time. The Summer of 2009.”

I love this cheeky safe sex ad campaign by Lafa (The Stockholm County Aids Prevention Program). Lafa distributed 100,000 free condoms in Stockholm with each condom having a unique number (from no.1 to 100,000). There is an accompanying blog where people can share the story of how they used that condom. The campaign also used cheeky ads which showed how the condoms can be used (a new husband having sex with his best man at the wedding, above, and the waiter screwing the man’s wife at a hotel, below)
Model Blake Kuchta makes quite a splash in the summer 2009 issue of Bello Mag with photography by Karl Simone. The aptly titled swimwear editorial, ‘Splash,’ shows Blake modeling pieces from Playboy and Ralph Lauren. Blake looks even better out of the swimsuits.

The team of photographer Camilla Åkrans and model Sean O’Pry make their second appearance in Homotography’s ‘Best of 2008’ special section. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of Camilla’s photography style, and there is something about Sean that makes him the perfect fit for it.

One of my favorite female models, Lara Stone, is a very lucky girl in the new Dsquared2 Fall/Winter 2009.2010 ad campaign. Lara gets to play around with some hot eye candy, including the hunky Kerry Degman, Cesar Casier with his fabulously sucked-in cheeks and the mysteriously handsome Antonio Navas.
The stylish black and white ads were shot by the ubiquitous duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. I love the ‘just finished clubbing and heading to the after party’ vibe and the fact that DSquared2 designers Dan and Dean Caten are also featured in the ad campaign.

Super sexy is an understatement of these new shots of ReQuest model Ryan Bertroche by Homotography favorite Mariano Vivanco. The images ooze sensuality and sex appeal, and I am really digggging that sweater (kudos to stylist Shun Watanabe).
And we must say hello to Mariano’s new blog. One of the many reasons that I love Mariano and his usual partner in crime Nicola Formichetti, is that they make their new work easily accessible. They really get it, unlike many who make it difficult with small images and big watermarks that ruin the beauty of the image. Other creatives on the scene who deserve kudos for sharing their work include Tom Munro, Mario Testino, Joseph Bleu, Tony Duran, and Didio.

‘Demand action until you’re blue in the face’ is the slogan of a new campaign by Oxfam calling for action on climate change. Oxfam explains, “By agreeing to have your face painted blue – following the lead of Fatboy Slim, Jarvis, Little Boots and VV Brown – you can join the growing global movement of people determined to take action on climate change.”
The awesome Rankin did the photography of the blue paint jobs with the below film set to premier on the big screen at Glastonbury. If you happen to go to the Glastonbury festival, you can get your blue paint job at the Oxfam tent. A snapshot of your blue face will be used in a massive petition to tell world leaders who are meeting in Copenhagen in December to negotiate a new global climate deal that it’s time for action.
The campaign reminds me of the recent Nike V For Victory ads where athletes got smurfed as well.
I promised you more goodies from emerging photographer Christian Rios, and here it is. ‘Soir Naitsirhc’ is a laid-back outdoors editorial where Christian showcases three young guys in a downtown alley, hanging out and having fun.
As for the name of the editorial, which is the reverse of the photographer’s name and is written on the hand of the model, Christian explained to Homotography, “The name for the spread just came up at the shoot and the stylist just thought it might be cool to do that.”
The models featured in ‘Soir Naitsirhc’ include Tanner Brainard and Steven Yatsko, with styling by Raul Guerrero and grooming by Erin Dennison.

As I was hoping, the rest of the ads from the Dolce & Gabbana Menswear Fall 2009-Winter 2010 campaign are much better than the first ad we saw. In fact, I really like the campaign as a whole, and I think Steven Klein did a good job. Many people hate the presence of Jesus Luz and the Photoshopped scenes, but I actually like them. It’s D&G, and it’s their signature style to have many models crammed in each ad. The boxing theme inspired by the movie “Rocco e I Suoi Fratelli” and the struggle between the characters lends an emotional depth and dramatic story to the ads.
The ads feature David Gandy, Noah Mills, Julienne Quevenne, Cory Bond, Jesus Luz, Adam Senn, and Eva Herzigova.

I’ve been awaiting new stuff from photographer Leon Mark since I first featured him back in March. The young British photographer is back in action with an aquatic editorial in Contributing Editor, entitled Avalon. Homotography readers know that I love the increasing trend of free online magazines. They also know that I love the work of artist Ignacio Lozano. So when the sexy Spanish painter/photographer/model came up with a new magazine, I knew I’m gonna love it for sure. Ignacio launched Guapo magazine back in March, offering photography, illustration and paintings of artists all over the world. The magazine celebrates youth with a fusion of fashion, art, models, culture, and a whole lot of raw sex appeal. I waited till the magazine had some considerable amount of material before I made my review, and I give Guapo a two thumbs up. It surely earned its name.

The showed us the sexual history of Madonna in one of their Staying Alive safe sex campaigns, and used retro porn images in another. Now, MTV is going down there and using pubic hair illustrations to showcase that when you have unprotected sex with people “Some might stay forever” with you. They do that by creating the illusion of pubic hair with the names of the different people you slept with.
The ads come from Belgium with photography by Pablo Vicente and Illustration by Bram Laebens.
My friend Emma at Cow has been working on the UK ad campaign for Flame, a new body spray by Burger King that features hints of flame-grilled meat in its smell. The perfect gift for your vegetarian friend, huh? They got hunky actor Piers Morgan to drop it all in the ads. The product just had its UK launch at Selfridges.

Our favorite Austrian fashionista Brüno takes over the July 2009 issue of GQ magazine with a scandalous shoot by famous celebrity photographer Mark Seliger. ‘A Man Among Men’ features the gay alter ego of actor Sacha Baron Cohen tackling a football team, flirting with skinheads, and happily riding on a motor bike behind a bear.

Leandro ‘The Lips’ Maeder stars in a cover shoot for issue no. 41 of Blank magazine. The Swiss model with the luscious pillow lips was captured by photography duo Steven Gomillion and Dennis Leupold in the editorial ‘Take Me Down Town.’ And just so you know, when Leandro takes you down town, it involves threesomes and rough play. Bello Mag unveiled its Summer 2009 issue with photographer Karl Simone lensing all the editorials, including the denim feature ‘Relieving Strauss’ with model Evan Cole.
“I was actually inspired by the brand itself,” explains Karl Simone. “I wanted a great classic Levi’s feel and where better then out in the desert…”

‘Heavy Cross’ has been the most played song in my iPod over the past month. And since it didn’t have an official music video right away, whenever it started playing I would visualize my own music video. It involved a homosexual affair between a Catholic priest and a religious Muslim. I pretty much directed the complete video sequences in my head :) Well, the official video is out now, and it’s full of glitter, gold and fierceness. I am not entirely positive, but it’s most likely the images were taken by label designer and acclaimed photographer Milan Vukmirovic. The one and only Tony Ward is featured in the current issue #103 of Flaunt magazine alongside performance *wink, wink* artist Sasha Grey. The photography is by Los Angeles based photographer Ward Robinson.
Flaunt has shared some behind the scenes photos of the ‘Irreversible’ photo session which took place at Lautner house in BelAir.
Hands down one of the most creative photographers and creative minds of today, Rankin teaches us how to kiss in his aptly titled photography set, ‘Snog.’ If you don’t know much about Rankin, it’s enough to know that he created and launched Dazed & Confused, one of the best magazines out there.
The presence of Jesus Luz in the new Dolce & Gabbana menswear ad was met with mostly negative reactions across the blogosphere. The Fashionisto is certainly not a fan of Jesus popping up in ad campaigns. For their post on the new Pepe Jeans Fall-Winter 2009 ads, Carl @ Fashionisto omitted Jesus’s name from the credits. And in case you think it was omitted by mistake, here is his colorful reaction to people noticing that omission.
Although I also believe that Jesus ruined that particular D&G ad (we await to see the rest of the ads), I think he looks pretty good in these Pepe Jeans ads. But maybe it’s because he kinda blends in with the background, as opposed to being in the foreground of the D&G ad. Out of the six featured models, he is the furthest one from view in both ads.
So enough about Jesus and on to the ads themselves. They were shot by Tom Munro and feature Jacques Naude, Michael Camiloto, Hanne-Gaby Odiele, Agnete Hegelund, Anabela Belikova, and the controversial Jesus Luz.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a slice of the Jon Kortajarena pie. And even though we only get to see part of his face in the ad for the new Tom Ford White Musk Fragrance, it’s better than nothing.
The Tom Ford White Musk fragrance will be available in North America in September with the 50-ml. bottle selling for $180. The perfume will have an international launch in November.

I randomly came across the portfolio of Los Angeles based photographer Andrew Kuykendall (that’s what happens when I procrastinate working on my PhD, I browse aimlessly.) I love his vivid color palette and moody models. There’s character to each image. Check out his site for more. His myspace is quite funky as well.
Major model Cory Bond and photographer David Roemer show us how to dress in style this season in the Fashion & Style section of the recent issue of the NY Times. Stripes and colors seem to be the key to looking sharp.

I am left pretty much speechless at the beauty of this cover shoot of the July 2009 issue of Dazed & Confused. Out of the numerous Mariano Vivanco editorials and photo shoots that I have previously featured, nothing has moved me quite like this one. Is it androgynous beauty of Kendra Spears and Roy Pratt? The melancholy of AJ Abualrub? The outlandish styling of Nicola Formichetti? Or perhaps it is the Louis Vuitton thigh-high boots that Madonna sported at the recent CFDA gala. Whatever it is, this is one brilliant editorial.

While getting my daily dose of VGL men, I came upon this post that introduced me to the work of photographer Christian Rios. There is so much eye candy to choose from in Christian’s site and blog, so for an introduction I chose these images of actor James Preston (James Flook). The former Abercrombie & Fitch (yes, he’s been photographed by Bruce Weber) model looks delicately beautiful in color and alluringly sexy in black and white. I really like Christian’s sensibility, so expect a whole lot more of him in Homotography in the future.
Dolce & Gabbana continue to turn to the world of sports in their advertising. This time, swimmers from the Italian national team pose for the new Dolce & Gabbana Intimo underwear 2009 campaign with photography by the amazing Mariano Vivanco.
Shot at the Circolo Aniene de Roma pool, the ads feature five swimmers from the Italian national team: Paolo Bossini, Emiliano Brembilla, Nicola Cassio, Mirko Di Tora, and Alessandro Terrin.

He might have been unlucky in his recent trip to Milan (see here), but Travis Hanson is on a Major streak with editorials and photo shoots. Following his Citizen K International editorial, we bring you this black and white shoot by Philipp Muller.
Copenhagen-based fashion brand Jean//phillip is pretty new, founded back in 2007 by designer Jean-phillip. It’s mostly male-centric, but each collection features a few female pieces as well. The designs themselves have an androgynous vibe to them, with minimalist slim cuts and a monochrome palette. According to his site, the designer aims to blur the gender boundaries in fashion and come up with pieces that are wearable by both genders. Here are some pieces from the Jean//phillip Fall-Winter 2009 collection.
After starring in their Spring-Summer 2009 ad campaign, Gucci understandably keeps Swedish model Mathias Bergh. The sleek beauty is featured in their Men’s Classic Fall 2009-Winter 2010 Catalogue by Giampaolo Sgura. He is joined by some other male models, but really, my eyes are all on Mathias.

So the rumors were true, Jesus Luz in fact stars in the new Dolce & Gabbana Menswear Fall-Winter 2009 ad campaign. WWD shared the first image of the Steven Klein helmed campaign, which has the usual D&G suspects: David Gandy, Noah Mills, Julienne Quevenne, Cory Bond, and Adam Senn [The City on MTV]. Supermodel Eva Herzigova also makes an appearance.
The campaign is inspired by the Italian boxing-themed film “Rocco e I Suoi Fratelli” (“Rocco and His Brothers”) by director Luchino Visconti. Since we only have the above photo from the new campaign, I am sharing some of the memorable past Dolce & Gabbana menswear ads below. Enjoy the homoerotic goodness.

TIWIMUTA (This Is What It Made Us Think About) is a new fashion magazine by fashion designer Andre Walker. According to The Moment, it costs a whopping $375, and the first issue is 212 pages. Above, we have images of über stylist Beat Bolliger by Nathaniel Goldberg, and below we have images by Richards Alvarez. The issue also features a photo collaboration between Marc Jacobs and Jean-Paul Goude, and photography by Marcelo Krasilcic and Azza Yousif.
You know, looking fabulous needs hard work. Singapore-based photographer Soon Tong shows us the effort involved in maintaining the good looks in his editorial ‘Vanity’ with models Julian D and Daniel C.
Nothing beats the beauty and sensuality of young love. It doesn’t matter if it’s straight or gay, it’s universal. Photographer Valeria Lazareva captures that beauty in this sensual editorial that was published earlier this year in the January issue of Men’s Health magazine. The male model’s Calvin Klein underwear shows that he’s pretty, um, healthy down there…

I was recently introduced to the fascinating photography of Manuel Vason. Born in Italy in 1974, the London-based photographer explores the human body in unusual ways. He captures extraordinary performances and body manipulation, where the timing of the shot is of great importance. His work has been published in some of the most prestigious publications, including L’Uomo Vogue, ID, and Dazed & Confused.

In addition to recommending ‘The Ideal Husband,’ Joe Lally has some tips on ‘How To Become Happy’ in the new June 2009 ‘The Boys Power Issue’ of U_Mag. The beautiful Andrey Ivanov [Wilhelmina] shows us that we can be happy by eating lots of sweets and candy, and then working out to burn the calories.

One of my favorite Major models, Travis Hanson, pulls an AJ Abularub in the new Citizen K International with a platinum hair do. AJ sported the unique look first in the Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2009 campaign, which was shot by Fabien Baron.
Travis only sports the platinum look in a couple of the images. Here is the rest of his Citizen K editorial, which was shot by Driu & Tiago. I prefer his dark look much more.

Here’s a sneak peek at some new work from the fantastic photographer Ryan McGinley. It is set to be showcased at Art 40 Basel in Switzerland between June 10 – 14, 2009, under the Team Gallery, NY section. You might remember Ryan from the current Marc Jacobs Collection S/S 2009 fun ad campaign, which we shared with you last month.
Dolce & Gabbana unveiled their D&G Spring-Summer 2009 catalogue. It features D&G regulars Taylor Fuchs and Sebastian Lund among others. I have chosen some of my favorites for this post, you can see the whole (cheesy but fun) lookbook at D&G.

I am always happy to discover new fashion magazines, especially when they have inspired and original content. It is even better when they are free. Here I share with you Academy For Men, a new fashion webzine from Australia. Rhys Ripper, the creative director and editor-in-chief of the magazine, dropped me an email introducing the second issue of his fabulous publication, and I instantly fell in love with it once I visited the site.
In addition to offering easy online browsing, you can download the whole issue in PDF format, so you can enjoy the issue offline, for free. Their cool selection of music makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Their current second issue is a Music Issue. It features numerous fashion editorials and interviews with musicians. A nice blend of fashion and culture. (ps. the guy in the image below is Tom Penfold, from the first season of Australian Make Me a Supermodel. I heart him)

Matthias Vriens sets the new issue of Numéro magazine on fire with a sizzling poolside editorial featuring models Doug Porter and Missy Rayder with styling by Samuel Francois. I’ve been holding off on posting this editorial until I could find high quality and complete images, and I have to thank Andrey’s World for coming up with the goods.
Doug Porter & Missy Rayder exchange nudity in each of the shots with Doug displaying his deliciously cute bum and almost giving us a frontal in a couple of the images. Even with the excessive nudity, Matthias manages to keep it tasteful. This reminds me of last year’s ‘In Love’ with Andrés Velencoso Segura & Daria Werbowy.

This is a pretty good idea. Advertising usually uses women & skin to sell pretty much everything to straight men; from beer to underwear. So why not follow the same formula and use hot men to promote female bags? As a bonus, gay men will like the result too ;) That concept is applied in this Chanel photo shoot by photographer David Byun.
